A note from Alisa
Opening my own shop has been a long-time dream of mine. I love all things home, especially fabric. For me, the combination of color, pattern and texture stirs my soul, awakens my senses and brings me joy. My creativity and imagination soar when I visualize fabrics upholstered on furniture, adorning windows or covering a bench cushion.
I chose to call my store “Joy of Home” because my name means “joy” in Hebrew (the language of my ancestors) and because I believe that everyone's home should bring them joy, whether it is an exuberant joy or a peaceful one. Yet, I am also keenly aware that not everyone has a secure, safe, or joyful place to live. I want to use my shop as a vehicle to support those needing what many of us may take for granted.
My knowledge of home interiors is largely self-taught. I worked as an interiors consultant for many years as well as a real estate broker. After some time at another fabric store, I realized my true passion and decided to open my own place. I grew up in Burlington and spent my adult life in other parts of Vermont. My husband and I came back to Burlington 2 years ago. We have 3 adult children, 2 grandchildren, and an overly-friendly goldendoodle named Daisy.
